San Jose, Calif., April 16, 2004 – Calient Networks, the leading provider of carrier-class photonic switching systems, announced today the appointment of Ron Mackey as Calient’s new Chief Marketing Officer.

Prior to joining Calient Networks, Ron headed product planning and strategy for Tellabs’ North American product line and held various marketing, planning and product management positions within Tellabs' advanced optical groups. He was previously Chief Technology Officer for Osicom Technologies, now Sorrento Networks, as well as founder and President of Distributed Systems International, Inc. (DSI), an optical networking technology company acquired by Osicom Technologies in 1996. He started his telecommunications career with Bell Laboratories.
